What is biomass renewable energy

So what is biomass renewable energy?

what is biomass renewable energy

Biomass renewable energy is organic material made from animals and plants. Different types of biomass products can be burned or converted to produce energy. Various types of biomass are wood, crops, waste or garbage, landfill gas, and alcohol fuels. Biomass renewable energy will always exist, because we can grow trees, crops, and our waste or garbage will always be around. What is biomass renewable energy? Biomass renewable energy, can be released through burning garbage, crops, and wood. When these biomass fuel products are burned, a chemical energy is released as heat, which can be used to make electricity. Burning is not the only way to get biomass renewable energy gases, like methane, which is released when garbage and waste starts to decompose. Even though it is stinky or more appropriately, “smelly,” the results are methane gas. Animal byproducts, such as manure from farming animals, can also be changed into methane. Crops or plants like sugar cane, soybeans, vegetable oils, corn, and animal fats, can be fermented to create ethanol, which is a form of fuel used in transportation.

Biomass Energy Information & How Biomass Energy Works

Biomass renewable energy starts is beginnings through the marriage of the sun and photosynthesis plant process. Chlorophyll in plants captures the sun’s rays and converts it to carbon dioxide and the water in the soil adds carbohydrates. When these chemicals are burned, carbon dioxide and water is released, forming a long lasting energy source. It has been tested and proven, that ethanol burns cleaner and is purer than gasoline. Scientists are researching new methods to burn more biomass products so that we become less dependent upon fossil fuels, as well as reducing emissions from greenhouse gases. Fossil fuel is not renewable, with fuels like oil, natural gas, and coal, it can easily run out in years to come because it took millions of years to transform fossil fuel. Biomass renewable energy is being studied in order to protect the environment and reduce pollutants, which global warming can create.

More about what is biomass renewable energy.

what is biomass renewable energyPresently, wood is the most popular form of biomass renewable energy. But this has been a factor for thousands of years. Wood has been burned for heating and cooking all around the world. All aspects of wood is a part of biomass energy, such as its bark, wood chips, sawdust, and all forms of its residues. The method in reducing or converting wood to electricity involves a method called “combustion,” where its burning produces steam and gases (“gasification”). Answering the question of what is biomass renewable energy, we see that wood biomass energy goes to make up about 45% of the renewable energy of the United States. The total biomass fuel goes to make up about 5% of the U.S. energy. Solid waste or garbage also goes to make up about 6% of our biomass renewable energy. Solid waste biomass products include paper, leftover food, grass, leaves, cardboard, and other products. Burning solid waste products to make energy, which in turn generates electricity or it is converted to steam. Not only is electricity a benefit of garbage, but reducing landfills is also a kudo. Using biomass renewable energy as a fuel source, will reduce dependence on foreign oil.

What is biomass renewable energy

Biomass energy is a naturally viable and reliable source for electricity, but which is being studied to make sure that biomass products, such as plants and trees, will be replenished and a healthy environment continues to be sustained. Fast growing plants like the “switchgrass” and “miscanthus,” which is being considered a bio fuel source, because of its ability to grow in harsh and less nutrient filled soil. Fast growing trees like the poplar and willow trees are also considered because they can be cut down and grow back within 3 – 4 years. In addition, extracting and converting biomass energy emission methods are thoroughly studied in order to keep air quality safe and clean. Air quality emissions are dependent upon the type of biomass power plant technology used, control methods, and the source of biomass renewable energy. Biomass renewable energy is an economic and secure fuel source that when properly managed, will provide generations of energy sources. It will also be less expensive to produce and to use, and it will reduce the expense of importing various fossil fuels. The world’s use of biomass renewable energy as fuel, is growing by leaps and bounds, even though we continue to depend on fossil fuel sources to meet our energy needs.
